PRIVATE ENGAGEMENT
a sequence of walls around an open foyer outside of the city centre.
one wall becomes a diaphragm to protect and keep distance to the faithful assembly oriented to La Mecca.
the other walls configure the services wings on both sides.
the mosque’s dome is conceived as a centripetal focus of the organization of the open, covered and closed spaces.
it develops around itself a system of cultural, recreational and service spaces able to build a prayer and meeting place for the islamic community.
this place is not hidden or forbidden, but open and transparent to the city, able to be glanced and crossed by citizens walking and sightseeing.
all the comunity services and spaces are facing towards the open courtyard, imagined as a piazza in which people can meet each other.
a great green park stays all aorund to preserve and protect the worship place.
the space of performing ablutions constitutes a threshold in the path to entering to the mosque.
the water steps create on the ground an enclosure to separate and link worshippers and common people. a porch gives measure and shade to the front door.
