the composition of the assembly, as body of Christ, extends towards a new interior frame/threshold, which announces the chapels of the Blessed sacrament and the Blessed Virgin Mary and is “brought to light” through the opening towards the patio of Christ on the cross.

the patio becomes an expansion of the outdoor assembly, connecting interior and exterior, above and below, divine and human. the two arms shaped by the staircase with the services below, the sacristy towards the chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Via Crucis, which preserves the existing suspended ceiling in the foyer of the auditorium, delineate a crown of service spaces, enclosing the assembly.

a new diaphanous above-ground roof, made of onyx slabs on a metal support structure, envisages both a “block of stone driven into the ground”, from which natural light filters in during the day, and a “lantern emerging from the ground”, from which artificial light floods in at night.

the architectural space becomes chromatic in its welcoming and projecting the assembly towards god, but it is also clothed with artistic works that reinterpret tradition, innovating it within a suspended, timeless space.
