the structure thought by marcello d’olivo as a way of conceiving vacations, tourism and their relationship with landscape defines the iconic identity of lignano sabbiadoro, so the masterplan moves from this to imagine an extension towards the sea of this organic spiral, closer to the concept of territory than to the concept of city: a thread to sew new eyebolts on the coastal waterfront.
the masterplan is conceived as a tool to “read” and after to “write” the territory, landscape, city and architecture, in a seamlessly network, able to be flexible in time and space, by recognizing the latent poles of the site.
the system tries to build places, not spaces, diaphragms not borders, paths, not corridors. beach clubs and antiflood wall constitute the traces and poles to conceive a new texture of the waterfront: a mix of built and open spaces, sport and leisure places.

they become new piazzas and urban meeting places along the shoreline linknig city and sea.

the golden sand waterfront defines an intertwining of a footbridge on the anti flood wall and a ground pathway made of “waves” that reconnects the beach clubs and the new poles.

it’s a fishing net, an irregular sinusoid, a wave, that crosses the wall in many points, that defines new way to reach and experience the beach, even by walking on the water, at the border of the new sea pool, or by playing basket, volley, football, beach tennis or padel inside the pinewood or along the wall.

new network poles are related to the leisure time (cocktail beach bar, restaurants) and to new meeting places for the citizens inside the piccinato’s pedestrian paths.
