INTERNATIONAL 2 STAGES DESIGN COMPETITION
the project of the nouvelle comedie aims at building a urban interface able to attract the citizens of geneve and the visitors world-wide not only for the quality of the shows there represented, but also because of the way in which the building fits into the context by recovering and transforming it.
the building, a large rectangular volume, is “traversed,” penetrated, interpenetrated and “disassembled” by the traces of the historical and environmental context and by the pathways envisaged by the PDQ and the implementation of the CEVA.
the master plan works by architectural-urban and physical-perceptual connections, designing flows and dynamics of movement that are both internal and external.
all the cycling, pedestrian and vehicular envisaged by the PDQ are maintained and re-signified according to the uses and functioning of the inner and outer spaces of the complex.
from this interweaving of routes emerges the building, which uses topography as a key element to define its character on urban scale.
internally, the theatre is conceived on the spatial and functional dynamics of bodies and volumes, assembled into a complex machine for representation.
